Oak, walnut, ash, and reclaimed stock selection.

European oak

Our default carcass and door material is quarter-sawn European oak from FSC-certified suppliers in France and Croatia. It machines cleanly, takes oil well, and handles Verona's seasonal humidity swings without dramatic movement. Knots and sapwood are graded out of visible faces; character-grade oak is available for rustic kitchens at lower cost.

Walnut and ash

American black walnut is laid as 0.6 mm veneer on stable birch ply for door fronts and panel inserts. Book-matching across a run of cupboards is standard on premium projects. Ash — bleached or natural — suits contemporary interiors and takes paint better than oak when a lacquered finish is specified.

Reclaimed and local stock

We hold a small inventory of reclaimed beams from dismantled barns in the Veneto foothills, suitable for feature shelving and table tops after kiln drying and metal detection. Verona limestone is not timber, but we coordinate stone worktops through local fabricators who supply slabs cut to our kitchen templates.

Boards, adhesives, and sustainability

Carcasses use E1-rated birch ply and MDF with formaldehyde levels suitable for residential use. Adhesives are D3 or D4 grade for moisture resistance in kitchens and bathrooms. Offcuts larger than 300 mm are retained for sample blocks and smaller components to reduce waste.

Visit the workshop to compare timber species side by side — oiled, lacquered, and unfinished. We keep current batches labelled with supplier and moisture content at delivery. Samples can be taken home; larger mock-up panels are prepared for a fee of €85 when a project requires on-site colour approval.
