Workshop Production
CNC, hand finishing, and quality control.
Our Verona workshop
Grabb Palan operates from Via Pallone in central Verona, where timber is stored in a climate-controlled area before machining. The workshop houses a panel saw, edge bander, CNC router, spindle moulder, and a dedicated spray booth for lacquered finishes. Keeping production local means site surveys, factory visits, and snag repairs happen without long logistics chains.
CNC nesting and cut lists
Production drawings export directly to the CNC, where parts are nested to minimise waste on each board. Hinge holes, shelf pin lines, and handle centres are bored in the same pass so bench time focuses on assembly rather than remeasurement. Complex curves and repeated profiles — fluted panels, arch tops — are routed here before hand sanding.
Assembly and dry fitting
Carcasses are squared on a flat table and clamped until adhesives cure. Large runs are dry-assembled in the workshop so door gaps and drawer reveals can be checked under proper lighting. Only then are items wrapped in blankets and loaded for delivery — kitchens and libraries travel upright in our own van fleet.
Hand finishing bay
After machining, components pass through the finishing bay where edges are softened, surfaces are scraped or sanded through progressive grits, and oil or lacquer is applied. Veneered panels are checked for glue lines and touch-up before packaging. Each job carries a batch label linking it to the cutting list and client order number.
Quality control and programme
The foreman signs every item against a checklist covering dimensions, finish, and hardware function before it leaves the building. Standard lead time is six to ten weeks from approved drawings; kitchens and full-room projects may run twelve to fourteen weeks during peak autumn demand. Rush orders are sometimes accommodated for an additional 12% programme fee.
